Bundy Lab Undergraduates Present at Utah Conference of Undergraduate Research (UCUR) at UVU
Conner Earl and Greg Neilsen represented the BYU Bundy lab this past month at the Utah Conference of Undergraduate Research (UCUR) at UVU. Conner presented on “Fusion Protein Biosensor for Endocrine Disruptors” and Greg presented on the “Detection of Harmful Ligands using a Cell-Free Biosensor.”

Whitney Bills Approved for ORCA Project
Undergraduate Whitney Bills recently received approval from BYU to pursue an ORCA project, RAPID. Described on ORCA’s website, we have an excerpt here: “Due to the large number of chemicals and mixtures in worldwide commerce and the laborious process of testing them, we still know very little about the endocrine disrupting capabilities of most chemicals. Back in 1996 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), aware of the growing concern of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC), mandated that potential chemicals be tested.The normal process in testing for EDCs is labor intensive, costly, and requires highly specialized instrumentation and training. The purpose of this project is to optimize a newly developed fast, inexpensive EDC biosensor, termed Rapid Adaptable Portable In-vitro Detection orRAPID so that it can be used in human blood and urine.”

Conner Earl finishes 1st at AIChE Undergraduate Research Paper Competition
Congratulations to Conner Earl for placing first at the AIChE annual Rockey Mount Regional AIChE undergraduate research paper competition! He presented on a recently accepted paper about ribonuclease inhibitors. Additionally, received an invitation to compete in the National AIChE meeting.
