Matt (Song-Min) Schinn, head researcher into “Rapid In vitro Screening for the Location – Dependent Effects of Unnatural Amino Acids on Protein Expression and Activity” was recently rewarded for all of his hard work with a publication in Biotechnology and Bioengineering.  Matt was assisted in his research by William Bradley, Ashtyn Groesbeck, Jeffery Wu, Andrew Broadbent and Dr. Bradley Bundy.

]]> Come onIMG_4140Foothills Elementary School in Orem, UT agreed to let Dr. Bundy’s lab come and present their latest Engineering Adventure to their teaching faculty.  This was our first attempt and the teachers were so helpful and kind in offering suggestions and putting up with our mistakes.

During the orientation,  Kristen Wilding, P.h.D. Candidate, presented a complete lesson and science activity that could be used in the classroom.  The lesson focused on micro-organisms followed by a demonstration that used micro-organisms to build mini yeast reactors that produce ethanol.  After the demonstration, the teachers offered great suggestions and advice for how we can improve our lesson plans and even offered some ideas for demonstrations we can create in the future.
